On Silent Wings - Ok here's the thing. I knew within a few pages that this book wasn't for me (way too much admiration for how the hero looked in his breeches and such). But the premise had so intrigued me and I wanted to know how it would play out (i.e. I wanted to know how she regained her voice - tuns out super anti-climatically) that I read/skimmed it anyway. I should have followed my initial reaction.

In addition to being seriously far-fetched, (the heroine gets buried alive after being drugged by the scheming woman who's been after her husband for years and who also poisoned, drove mad and then killed his first wife) which I can sometimes get past, the characters were so inconsistent. They felt bipolar the way their thoughts and actions would completely change course for no reason, jump to bizarre conclusions, etc. It was incomprehensible to me. I didn't know which way to turn.
